The Kasper Fostering Journey

Choosing who you foster with is one of the most important decisions you’ll make. The agency you join shapes your entire fostering experience, from your support, your training, and the wellbeing of the children in your care.

With Kasper you can expect consistent support every step of the way, as we truly want you to have the best possible fostering experience. Here’s what else you can expect when you foster with Kasper.

1: Support every step of the way

At Kasper, we recognise that foster carers need to feel well supported in order to provide the best possible care for children. That’s why we place a strong emphasis on building trusted relationships with our carers and ensuring support is available whenever it is needed.

As a foster carer with Kasper, you’ll have your own dedicated supervising social worker who takes the time to get to know you and your family. You’ll also have access to therapeutic support, experienced mentor carers, and our staff team who are there to guide, encourage and support you throughout your fostering journey.

Our trauma-informed, child-focused approach underpins everything we do, helping carers to understand children’s experiences and provide the nurturing, consistent care they need to thrive. Our out-of-hours support is staffed by a member of the Kasper team, so you’re never left to manage difficult situations alone.

We also offer regular support groups, family events and activity days, ensuring carers feel connected, valued and part of our wider Kasper community.

At Kasper, we are proud of our close-knit family ethos, where carers are known, heard and supported, and where children and young people remain at the heart of everything we do.

Support includes:

  • Dedicated local supervising social worker
  • Trauma-informed, child-focused approach
  • Therapeutic and peer support
  • 24-hour out-of-hours support
  • Regular support groups and family events

2: Building confidence through training

We offer a wide range of training opportunities designed to support you at every stage of your fostering journey. You’ll begin with the mandatory Skills to Foster preparation training before moving on to a programme of learning designed to build your knowledge, skills and confidence as a foster carer.

Training is delivered through a mixture of face-to-face workshops, weekend training, online sessions and flexible e-learning, making it easier to fit learning around family and other commitments. From understanding trauma and attachment to supporting emotional wellbeing, safeguarding, child development and therapeutic parenting, our programme reflects the realities of fostering and the needs of the children and young people in our care.

Our trauma-informed, child-focused approach underpins all of our learning opportunities, helping carers develop the understanding and practical skills needed to support children to feel safe, build trusting relationships and achieve their full potential.

Our training programme includes:

  • Skills to Foster preparation training
  • Statutory and mandatory courses
  • Specialist fostering workshops
  • Trauma-informed, child-focused practice
  • Face-to-face, online and e-learning options
  • Weekday and weekend learning opportunities

3: Our commitment to safe care

At Kasper, the safety and wellbeing of children and young people are at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to providing safe, stable and nurturing homes where children can build trusting relationships, develop confidence and reach their full potential.

As an established not-for-profit fostering agency, we are driven by our values rather than profit. This allows us to focus our resources on supporting children, young people and foster carers, and on continually improving the services we provide.

From our robust safeguarding practices and trauma-informed, child-focused approach to our ongoing investment in carers, we are committed to delivering high-quality care that makes a lasting difference.

We are proud of the strong relationships we build with our foster carers, local authorities and partner agencies, and of the reputation we have developed for providing safe and child-centred care.

Through regular oversight, quality assurance and a commitment to continuous improvement, we strive to ensure every child receives the care, advocacy and support they deserve.

What you can expect from Kasper:

  • Not-for-profit, values-led organisation
  • Strong focus on safeguarding and child welfare
  • Trauma-informed, child-focused practice
  • High standards of quality and oversight
  • Trusted relationships with carers and local authorities

4: Part of the Kasper family

At Kasper, we believe fostering is about people and relationships. We work hard to create a welcoming and connected community where foster carers, children and staff feel valued, supported and part of something bigger.

We know that fostering can be both rewarding and challenging, which is why we place great importance on helping carers build connections with others who understand the journey. Many of our carers tell us that one of the things they value most about Kasper is the genuine sense of belonging and the friendships they develop along the way.

Fostering should never feel like something you do alone. Through support groups, coffee mornings, walks, family events and activity days, carers have opportunities to meet, share experiences and learn from one another. These connections often become an important source of both practical advice and emotional support.

We are committed to creating a culture where foster carers feel respected, listened to and appreciated. We also recognise the importance of self-care and encourage carers to look after their own wellbeing, knowing that caring for yourself is an essential part of being able to care for others.

At Kasper, every foster carer is an important part of our wider fostering family, and we are proud of the supportive community we have built together.

Our Values

At Kasper Fostering, our core values aren’t just words on a page, they are the foundation of everything we do. They guide how we support our carers, nurture the children in our care, and build a fostering community where everyone feels they truly belong.

Child-Centred

Every decision we make is driven by what is best for the child. We are deeply committed to providing safe, nurturing homes where young people who have experienced trauma can find stability, heal, and be supported to reach their full potential.

Carer Focused

We know that to give a child the best care, you need the best support. That’s why we invest in your wellbeing, offering outstanding training, generous allowances, and 24/7 guidance so you always feel valued and equipped for the journey.

Relationship‑led

We aren’t a faceless corporate agency; we are a family. By intentionally keeping our caseloads small, our social workers take the time to build genuine, lasting connections with you, your family, and the children you care for.

Honest, approachable, supportive

We believe in open, transparent communication without the complicated jargon. Whether you have a quick question or just need a friendly ear after a challenging day, our team is always a phone call away, ready to listen.

What Makes Us Different

As a proudly independent, family-focused agency, we stand apart from large corporate providers. We believe that exceptional foster care begins with truly supporting our carers. By keeping our team close-knit and our approach deeply personal, we go above and beyond to ensure you are always heard, valued, and never treated as just a number.

  • Small caseloads
  • Real relationships with carers
  • Careful & thoughtful matching
